Eight cards each and a trump suit. Highest card of the led suit takes the trick — unless somebody trumps it.
The face-up card under the stock sets the trump suit. While cards remain you may play anything; when the stock empties, arrastre begins — follow suit, beat the trick if you can, trump when void.
